COURSE OUTLINE
The nationally accredited Operate and Maintain A Four Wheel Drive Vehicle (4WD) course covers the operation and maintenance of four-wheel drive vehicles in the resources and infrastructure industries. This course is appropriate for those working in operator roles, at worksites within:

  • Civil construction
  • Coal and Metalliferous mining and Extractive industries

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Basic verbal and written English communication skills sufficient to read material and understand instruction. Where necessary theory assessment can be answered verbally.

HOW LONG WILL TRAINING TAKE?
Typically the training and assessment is competency-based. Supervised operation is generally required with the full course completed in a full day. Please Note-Total time is dependent on competency of each individual.

HOW IS THE TRAINING DELIVERED?
Training and assessment is both practical and theory based.

FULL COURSE TRAINING– Designed for learners who don’t have access to the equipment required a competent supervisor or require the delivery of practical in a very focused one on one environment.
Step 1– Completion of theory training and vehicle familiarization
Step 2– Learner completes supervised operation practicing skills as instructed by the trainer in a structured learning environment in a small group.
Step 3– Learner completes a final theory and practical based assessment and is issued a statement of attainment.

VERIFICATION OF COMPETENCY (VOC) assessments for 4 wheel drive vehicles can be completed onsite or at our training facility. For more information on VOC assessments contact the office.

YOU WILL LEARN TO:

  • identifying four-wheel drive specific terms, terminology and techniques,
  • plan for minimal environmental impact
  • perform pre-departure checks
  • use the features of a four-wheel drive vehicle to drive in a variety of terrain types
  • perform maintenance and minor repairs on four-wheel drive vehicles.
